How to keep using Facebook chat on your iPhone without installing Facebook Messenger

We have seen that Facebbok is forcing users to install a separate iPhone application due to, but there is a still plenty of outrage. So much so, in fact, that the Facebook Messenger app for iOS now has a 1-star average rating in the App Store out of spite.

But if you don’t want to use the separate app to chat with your Facebook friends, There is a very simple trick that will let you keep using the main Facebook app for the iPhone to send and receive messages.

That’s a good new but the bad news is that Facebook will likely to prevent this trick from working in future updates.

The trick that you have to do in order to keep chatting in the main Facebook app for the iPhone:

1.    Open your Facebook app on your iPhone and tap on the Messages tab. The app will prompt you to install the dedicated Facebook Messenger app; click Install.

2.    On the App Store pages that subsequently opens, tap to download Facebook Messenger but stop the download after it begins.

3.    Go back to the main Facebook app and you’ll find that the Messages tab has been restored.

This is a very simple trick and will work for sure. Keep using the facebook app. It rocks.
